The Arcademy

The Arcademy is a paid internship hosted by Arcade Studios for students interested in a career in Digital Marketing. 

If the agency world is an ocean, consider this your diving lessons. Focused on experiential learning, The Arcademy offers burgeoning marketers an opportunity to build their repertoire of skills, increase knowledge and collaborate with a team. We know first-hand there’s only so much a classroom can teach you –  the real lessons come while strategizing, responding and problem solving in real time.

At Arcade, we are determined to make a meaningful contribution across media and culture, and leave a mark that lingers far after we’ve gone. We’ve introduced The Arcademy to propel young creatives forward as we open up the vault to what we know and set you up for future success.

Social Video Intern

(Spring Term)

Location: Calgary, AB or Vancouver, BC
*No remote opportunities as program involves on-location activities
Commitment: 15-20 hours per week, January 29 - June 14 2024

We leverage engaging content and modern distribution strategies to nurture online communities, maximize brand influence and generate revenue. The Gig:

Working closely with the social and video teams, the Social Video Intern will support the

development of all social video needed for Arcade clients and ensure that video strategies are

executed across social platforms with excellence. The Social Video Intern will be responsible for supporting with ideation, scripting, casting, and editing all video content in accordance to brand strategies and current social media trends. The Social Video Intern will support in ensuring every piece of video content is aligned with our client’s marketing strategy and brand guidelines in addition to being optimized for the platform it will appear on, whether shot on iPhone or produced on set.

The Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Social Video Producer to support with weekly video responsibilities (research, storyboarding, scripting, casting, filming and editing). 

  • Be the internal and external advocate for social media video by staying on top of trends and ever-evolving digital behaviours.

  • Have a deep understanding of how social video contributes to the overall success of social media

    activities and campaigns.

  • Work with the Social Media Director and the Social Video Producer to identify trending video concepts that need quick action and quick client approval. Coordinate the execution of production once approval is received.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in social media, content creation and/or video production.

  • Experience with filming and editing software & tools, both on desktop and mobile (please include what software & tools you are familiar with in your application). 

  • Intimate knowledge of social media platforms and content strategy, with a keen sense of evolving trends and consumer behavior.

  • Ability to create out-of-the-box concepts beyond simply following trends already widely adopted.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, both for internal collaboration and client engagement.

  • Ability to stay abreast of social media trends, with an emphasis on TikTok and Instagram. 

  • Evidence of excellent time management and ability to meet or exceed project timelines.

  • Be comfortable on camera and ready to stand in as talent if needed for any client videos.


Student Eligibility:

  • Full-time and part-time student enrolled in an accredited Canadian college or university.

  • Studying any discipline, at any diploma or degree level.

  • Resides in Vancouver, British Columbia or Calgary, Alberta for the duration of the internship. 

  • Holds Canadian citizenship, Permanent Residency or refugee status

  • Is not part of another internship program for the duration of the Arcade internship.
